Μία ημέρα μετά την ολοκλήρωση του 1ου Ομίλου έπεσε η αυλαία και στον 2ο όμιλο του Κυπέλλου Συνομοσπονδιών, με την Γερμανία να επικρατεί 3-1 του Καμερούν και να καταλαμβάνει την κορυφή και την Χιλή να παίρνει το δεύτερο εισιτήριο για τα ημιτελικά χάρη στην ισοπαλία 1-1 με την Αυστραλία.

Μετά από τα αποτελέσματα αυτά (ο Γιόακιμ Λεβ έφτασε τις 100 νίκες στον πάγκο της εθνικής Γερμανίας και έγινε ο πρώτος που το πετυχαίνει στην ιστορία του αντιπροσωπευτικού συγκροτήματος της χώρας του) η παγκόσμια πρωταθλήτρια Γερμανία θα αντιμετωπίσει την ερχόμενη Πέμπτη το Μεξικό ενώ μία ημέρα νωρίτερα η πρωταθλήτρια Ευρώπης Πορτογαλία θα αντιμετωπίσει την πρωταθλήτρια Λατινικής Αμερικής με φόντο το μεγάλο τελικό.
