Λίγους μήνες μετά την κατάκτηση της Premier League, ο Πεπ Γκουαρδιόλα πρόσθεσε και δεύτερο τίτλο στη συλλογή του ως προπονητή της Σίτι, με την ομάδα του Μάντσεστερ να επικρατεί δίκαια με 2-0 της περσινής Κυπελλούχου Τσέλσι και να φτάνει στην κατάκτηση του Community Shield για πέμπτη φορά στην ιστορία της.

Ο άνθρωπος που χάρισε το τρόπαιο στους "πολίτες" ήταν ο βασικός τους φορ Σέρχιο Αγκουέρο ο οποίος δύο φορές μέσα από τη μεγάλη περιοχή (13', 58') νίκησε με δεξί σουτ τον συμπατριώτη του Βίλι Καμπαγέρο, με τον οποίο τον περασμένο Ιούνιο είχαν πιει μαζί το φαρμάκι του αποκλεισμού στους "16" του Μουντιάλ με την εθνική Αργεντινής.

Με τα δύο αυτά τέρματα μάλιστα ο "Κουν" έφτασε τα 201 και έγινε ο πρώτος παίκτης στην ιστορία της Σίτι που σπάει το φράγμα των 200 γκολ με τη φανέλα της σε όλες τις διοργανώσεις.
